Here's a Step-by-Step set of instructions on how to setup Microsoft's Expression Web to connect to your website. These instructions were written with the assumption that this is the first time you have setup your HTML Editor to connect to your website. If it is not, then the steps that we've outlined below might be slightly different.

Microsoft's Expression Web Setup

Step 1. Start by opening "Adobe GoLive CS" on your computer.

Step 2. You will need to create a new website within Expression Web before you begin. To do this, click on the Site button at the top, then select "New Site...".

Step 3. Now you must give your website a Name (this is just your name for the website). Select "Empty Site" from the middle column, click "OK".

Step 4. Next click on the "Site" button followed by the "Open Site..." link and select your newly created website and click "Open".

Step 5. You now need to set up the ftp connection settings. To do this, click the "Site" button at the top, followed by clicking the link "Publishing Settings..." and then click the "Add..." button.

Step 6. You will now be in the Connection Settings area. Enter the site Name and select FTP from the top drop down.

Step 7. For the Location you will want to enter "ftp://ftp.webtrix.net". The "Directory" field will normally be populated with your domain name without the www. or .com.

Step 8. Under the Credentials section, you will need to enter your Username and Password.

Step 9. Make sure to check the box "Use Passive FTP".You can leave the Maximum Simutaneous Connections set to the default setting, click "Add" then "OK" to exit the settings.

Step 10. At the bottom left of your screen click on the "Publishing" tab. Then click on the link in the center of you screen titled "Connect to the current publishing destination".

Step 11. Now you will want to use the arrows in the center of your screen to pull in and open up web files you wish to modify. Once complete, simpy save your changes and Publish the files back to the server using the arrows.

You are all done! Now simply choose a file to edit from the list of files that appear.
