Our Dreamweaver Support. . .

Here's a Step-by-Step set of instructions on how to setup Macromedia's Dreamweaver to connect to your website. These instructions were written with the assumption that this is the first time you have setup your HTML Editor to connect to your website. If it is not, then the steps that we've outlined below might be slightly different.

Macromedia's Dreamweaver Setup

Step 1. Start by opening "Dreamweaver" on your computer.

Step 2. Click on "Site", then click on "Manage Sites...".

Step 3. The "Manage Sites" window will appear. Click the "New..." button then click on "Site".

Step 4. Under the "Advanced" tab, select the "Local Info" category on the left and enter your Site Name in the field provided. You will also need to enter your HTTP Address (I.E. http://yoursite.com).

Step 5. Now click on the category titled "Remote Info" on the left. Set Access to "FTP" and enter the FTP Host of "ftp.webtrix.net" in the space provided. You will also need to add the "Host Directory" (I.E. if your website domain is www.yoursite.com, the host directory would normally be "yoursite"). Finally you will need to enter your account Username and Password.

Step 6. Exit out of the settings and click the "Done" button on the Manage Sites pop-up.

Step 7. You are now connected to your website via Dreamweaver. You can now download the files from the web server and make whatever changes as needed.

Step 8. Once complete, you can upload your newly created/changed files by simply clicking on "Site" at the top, then click on "Put" to upload the files to the server.
